How to split a PDF
- Choose a PDF file. The tool reads it and shows how many pages it has.
- Pick what you need:
- Extract selected pages into one PDF — for example, only pages 2–4 of a contract.
- Split into one PDF per range — for example,
1-3, 4-6, 7-creates three separate files. - Split every page into a separate PDF — useful for scanned batches of single-page documents.
- Type the pages, if needed, and press Split and preview.
- Check the preview and the list of files, then download. A single result is saved as a PDF; several results come as one ZIP file.
How to write page ranges
Separate pages and ranges with commas. A dash joins the first and last page of a range, and a dash at the end means “until the last page”.
5— only page 51-3, 7— pages 1, 2, 3 and 710-— page 10 to the end of the document
In the “one PDF per range” mode each item becomes its own file, so 1-2, 3-5 produces two PDFs. In the “extract” mode all the pages you list are placed into a single PDF in the order you typed them, which also lets you reorder pages: 3, 1, 2.
Common reasons to split a PDF
Sending only the signed page of a long agreement, removing confidential appendices before sharing a report, separating a scanned stack of receipts into individual files, or making a large file small enough for an email attachment or an upload form with a size limit. Because the tool runs in your browser, the full document is never uploaded anywhere — only the pages you choose to download leave this page.
Frequently asked questions
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied without re-compression, so text stays sharp and images keep their original resolution.
Is there a limit on the number of pages?
PDFs up to 100 MB can be opened, and one run can create up to 500 files. Large documents work, but take longer on phones because the processing happens on your device.
Can I delete pages from a PDF with this tool?
Yes. Use “Extract selected pages into one PDF” and list every page except the ones you want to remove. For a 10-page file without page 4, type 1-3, 5-10.
Why can’t I open my PDF?
Password-protected PDFs need to be unlocked first. Damaged files, or files that only have a .pdf extension but are something else, cannot be read either.
