Merge PDF

How to merge PDF files

  1. Click Choose PDF files and select two or more PDFs. You can select several at once, or add more files in a second step.
  2. Check the list. Each file shows its page count and size. Use the ↑ and ↓ arrows to change the order and × to remove a file.
  3. Press Merge and preview. The first page of the combined document is displayed together with the total page count.
  4. Press Download merged PDF. The new file is named after the first document in your list.

When merging PDFs is useful

Private by design

Documents you merge are often the most sensitive ones you have: IDs, payslips, medical records, signed agreements. That is why this tool never uploads them. The pages are copied from one PDF into another inside your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library, and the result is created directly on your device.

Tip: if one of your documents is a photo or a scan saved as JPG or PNG, turn it into a PDF first with JPG to PDF, then merge everything here.

Frequently asked questions

How many files can I merge?

Up to 40 files at once, each up to 100 MB and 250 MB in total. For most everyday documents this is far more than needed. Very large files take longer on phones because all the work happens on your device.

Will the quality of my PDFs change?

No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing text or images, so the merged document looks exactly like the originals.

Are bookmarks and form fields kept?

The page content and web links on the pages are kept. The bookmark panel (outline) of the original files is not carried over, and fillable form fields may no longer be editable. Fill in forms before merging if you need their contents.

Why does a file say it is password-protected?

Encrypted PDFs cannot be merged without removing the protection. Open the file in your PDF reader with its password, save or print it as a new PDF without a password, and add that copy instead.
